Landmarks

Hello, everyone….

Happy Monday, as always. I hope this year is going well for you. It’s been a while, but during my absence, I’ve been out and about working on other ventures. I hope you had the chance to check out my site(s), subscribe, and/or sign up and share my contents. All that you do here will be greatly appreciated.

I had a problem. But I’m not alone in this. I had a problem remembering things. Not all things but certain things. It’s sometimes annoying remembering what I had for dinner the night before. Remembering people’s name when they call out to me. Birthdays. Anniversary. Where I left my phone, wallet, my mind…you name it….Writing down details to remember in a book, on a piece of paper and forgetting where you place that book or paper can be a major pain in the (you know what). To recall names, they say the best practice is to associate names with an object or event.. Did that. Here’s another. Remembering a name by reciting from A to Z… Hopefully, the name will  pop up in your head before you get to Z. I used to have to begin again and again… I may get it, or I may not. I believe the best practice is to write names down to recall later on. But in the real world, no one writes down the names of people they have met. How you remember names is up to you. Unfortunately, this blog is not on remembering people’s names. I’m better at it now. I’m more organized in finding things when I needed them. As I said earlier, I had a problem. This is still a work in progress. For the record, in my line of work, I met many strangers. It is easier for them to remember my name over me remembering theirs. Bear in mind since my name is quite unique, It is easier to remember than to forget.

There are a few techniques I use to enhance my memory. Planning. Online activities, including stock investing, traffic exchanges, and even blogging, tend to jog my memory a bit.

I had a conversation with a friend about driving and remembering landmarks so next time when you see them, you know where you are and are going in the right direction. Strangely, I was on the bus and the route I traveled for a while but saw a building or area that I didn’t remember seeing before. I thought I was on the wrong bus or that the driver was lost. A few miles later, I saw familiar places. I guess that every time I pass by this area, I either am asleep or doing other things unrelated to me looking out the window to pay attention to where I was going.

Landmarks: During my travels to New Orleans, San Antonio, the Philippines, Mississippi, The Carolinas, and in between, certain places or themes are etched to my memory will definitely get me back for future revisits. Taking photographs is nice, but nothing beats knowing exactly where to go the next visit. On your next trip, take in the sounds, the people, the food, etc… see what stands out, which will make it easier if you wished to visit again…

Well, as for my friend… she was lost on her road trip since nothing appeared familiar on the latter part of her trip. She had to take a detour. As for me on that regular bus ride, I believe I was just tired and disoriented and not too proud of it.

If you have issues with organizing and remembering things…place note on your refrigerator. Play memory games like crossword puzzles or sudoko. Take walks or other exercises. Take in the landmarks on your next trip and put it to memory for the next time you visit. Pay attention to the road, sights, and sound on your next trip.

See you next time on my next blog. I assure you, I won’t forget to write.

Peace✌️
