Fad or Feud

Hello everyone, and Happy Monday to you. I hope everyone in the US had a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July. For me, I saw the firework display on the Jersey Shore for the first time. It was spectacular. Unfortunately, unlike most folks, I had to head into the job on the weekend, both Saturday and Sunday. I’m off for the week. It is great to have a doctor’s schedule even without being anything close to a medical career.

Fad or Feud

Are you a trendsetter or just following others on what’s new or popular in society. I am never a person who follows trends or brands or is hooked on what’s popular in today’s society. The fashion, the music, the shows(reality shows are really trending). The lifestyle of the rich and famous(remember that show with that title) is bringing in aspiring folks who wish to become famous one day. Talking about shows, The Oscars, The Grammys, Billboard, and others, it is hard to tell which is of movies or music. Some will stop at nothing to watch these shows, which brings legacy to these participants. Then they are the sports which pay these players a very high sum of money on behalf of fans getting hooked on sports. Hey, I like to watch basketball, entertainment wrestling and track and field every now or then. I watch movies and sports and even listen to music. I would love to see a live event, but that is as far as I would go. Merchandise and photo ops are out of the question. So, are you a fad or a feud?

Now, name branded items are the fad. One previous co-worker to me “We are wearing the same shoes”…《I looked down at our feet and for certain we were.》”But mine is a _”, he said.. I forgot his brand of shoes, but my shoe brand didn’t make the name grade. Same shoes. Same quality. Different brand. To him, I look so uncool in my generic brand. I bought those shoes online via a gift card I got for payment working online. I actually paid nothing for this uncool, generic brand. We judge others by their attire rather than their mental stability. Not because you are wearing name branded items does not mean you are more well off or mentally or financially stable than others. This brings me to wonder. The same item made in the same place(you know where), same quality item with a different name and price tag. Most will go with the brand. That’s fad. I am really certain that some folks will pay more for an item, thinking that the more they pay, the better the quality of an item. I beg to differ. The higher cost is the price for branded name. You may also wonder if the same item made in the same place, say with a better quality material, is the labor of a higher quality since the material of a higher quality? Well, I mean in wages. Or is the same old pay for all services?

Fad or feud. Should one think or look the same based on where they live or by their race or culture. If not, are you billed as an outsider or reject. I believe everyone looking and thinking the same may be bad for the individual (a follower) but great for retailers and the economy. Have you ever heard this saying…”You are not _ enough ” where your culture becomes in question.

Need to mention that traveling to destinations where others have been is a rave. You can see the post on social media where folks are sharing where they have been or about to go. I love to travel as well. I go to places based on my feelings and thoughts, and not by majority rule.

Following a trend or rave can be really expensive. If you don’t have the funds to keep up on many.. you may not… keep up on many. I feud on most fads since this doesn’t make a person a better person, just a person to fit in…to be entertained, to be well dressed, to be in the know, to be a standout, to remain broke. Being a trendsetter is different since you are the creator of that model. There is a possibility for income and financial stability.

One final thought. Not because everyone is doing a thing makes it the right thing to do. I call this madness. To others, it is popular or trendy.  What’s not popular is staying true to yourself. Never think like others do if it yields you nothing in return. In other words, don’t follow the crowd. Be unpopular.
