I have been having the best time of my life since this year. Why? It is not that my best life has not started years ago, it is that, now I am acknowledging it, that I am not just content for now, it is more appreciating what I have achieved so far with lots more opportunity to be had. I will tell you this much, when you get your financial affairs in order, the more doors will be open for you.  When your financial affairs are in order, the more fun life will be. Let me give you an example.

A few posts ago, I wrote about “Anyway money.” This is money you use to make more money without the stress of thinking where your money will be coming from to finance your projects. This is a foolproof method that works for those who are on a budget or simply do not want to dip into their savings account. “Other people’s money” This is using money from others to finance your projects…for example, bank loans, cash advances, bonuses, credit cards, and online money-making platforms, just to name a few. Using this method not only free up your paycheck and “anyway money” if necessary, it will you a better spending and financial leverage. “Other people’s goods/services.” This method is so cost-effective since you do not have to manufacture or even create your own programs to promote or sell. Promote other people’s goods and services and earn some money via commissions. Use that money to finance your projects. Use all these methods religiously and watch your income grow exponentially. Spoiler alert! These methods are not a fun or exciting venture compared to a vacation getaway or entertainment. It can be dull or boring. Dull and boring means quitting will soon become an option for most people.

A certain banking commercial I encountered use boring as a way they do business. In other  words, they do the boring things so that their customers can live richly to say it mildly. Boring is not fun. No one likes boredom. Let me tell you this, unless the fun things you do will make your life more financially sound, well, go for it. The fun things create good memories. The fun things put a smile on our faces and others as well. If the fun things aren’t creating income or paying the bills, why bother to create them now rather than later. Have you ever heard this saying, “All work and no play can make you a dull person?”  Yes. Playing is fun. Unfortunately, work and play can be a “play” against each other where play, which is the fun thing to do, will end up being the winner. Here’s the kicker. Many want to succeed in life. The enemy to that outcome is “work.” And yes.  Work can be dull and boring.

But can you make boring fun. What? In reality, boring and fun should not be in the same sentence. Think about it. They are the opposites to each other. In jobs. Many don’t like to face the boss every day just to earn a living, but they learn to live with it. A “make believe” joy when in…reality( that word again!), the fun part is getting paid. Not the work itself. do the job well. I call this settling. Putting up with what’s handed out to you with a smile. Everyone knows what a job, the workplace, and bosses are. So, let’s put your life’s work or ventures in this place instead.

Your ventures are a choice you make outside of a traditional workplace. It is easier to stay in a job for just one reason. To make ends meet. You learn to live with it. I have come to know folks who decided to start their ventures outside their workplace. Start. Then quit their ventures and stick to the job and boss forever.  People quit for many reasons. Money issues. Work. Boredom. Yes. Boredom. The serious business owners stick to the business at hand without the fun and games attached to it. So, let me share some of my methods to sustainability in boring business ventures.

Equity investing. Yes. The market is boring if you are new to it. Even the seasoned investors are not immune to this. Make it fun by playing a game with it. Learn the fundamentals of investing. Reward your winners. Replace if necessary, your losers. Learn about the company you invest in. I still, to this day, pop into places I invest in just to get a feel to what they do. Make it interested and not just dull and boring if you want to stay with this long term. Get your colored pens and pencils handy. The more colors you see, the more energized you will be. Your books will be a joy to see.

Online businesses. Oh boy. The worst is the start of it. Making money may be in a long way into the future. How do you cope without quitting? Well, do not quit. If you don’t believe in your goods and services, then no one else will. When I first started my affiliated programs, even though I didn’t get customers in the beginning, I used my products over other rivals since I knew in my heart that my products were the best. I used them. Spread the joy. Customers join. Here’s the good part. When you start making the money you desire,  boring becomes the fun.

Others Whatever you do otherwise of your regular job, if serious about it and not just to supplement your income, the joy should be there. An income supplement, to me, is just like having a second job… Just like the job itself, you can not take ownership of it. Rentals are temporary, and ownership is lifetime. Make up your mind if you are serious enough to take your ventures to the top.

Let me recap

  • Make it a game
  • Use and feel it
  • Crayola, the darn thing
  • Build fun teams and socialize
  • Embrace ownership
  • Use others’ resources
  • Be creative
  • Pay yourself first

Be mindful. Boredom is telling your brains that it is lazy and dull and lacking in creativity. Your brains will accept this as gospel and will do nothing.

Talk is cheap. Do what you say you will do for your financial well-being. We plan weddings, vacations, get-togethers, and hustle to get to the job for money to support this. Place those financial ventures above all and stick with boring for a while. The fun things will come to you as the reward.

It was fun writing this post…..

To your success
