Enjoy life or BUS(t)

Hello and Happy fun day, Sunday. It is blogging time again!

Welcome to another week. I hope everyone had a wonderful week last week and is looking forward to another enjoyable and productive week this week.

So, my few prior weeks have put me on a road tour of the USA. Destinations to New Orleans, Louisiana, and Houston, Texas. I will give you a few hints for long haul road travel whether you are traveling alone or with a companion. Let’s break the mold here. I am not a travel blogger. My blogging is not based on travel or travel advice. I am nomadic. Meaning that I move about a lot. Well, unlike others like me, I do have a home base. A home base is a familiar place where I will come home to work and rest. Since I can work anywhere online from anywhere in the world, whether I’m on the go or stationary, my blogging put me right where I wanted to be without jeopardizing the genre that I’m in and enjoying at the moment.

I’ve done long-haul flights. Long haul road travel is harder, and it is not for everyone. The most I’ve traveled one way by bus is three days and I’ve done this various times. If it is a round trip road trip, the key is to get some bed rest planned in a hotel or motel to freshen up and stretch out for the night to start fresh again the next day. Time may be a burden if you are planning to get back home at a scheduled time minus all the traffic and delays. So you should plan accordingly. Case in point. I missed my connecting bus to New York from Atlanta due to the delay from my bus coming from Houston. I rescheduled to the next available bus, which gave me seating I wished I had never gotten. The great thing about that trip was that I had enough time to get home and to work as scheduled.

Let’s look at the dos and don’ts in bus travel. You meet people. The good. The bad and the in-between. My saying is this. There are three reasons why people take a bus trip. They are running to something. Running away from something or just running. Others like myself just love the scenery and the long getaway without the boredom of staying in just one place. Engage with people when you can. Disengage when people when necessary. There are rules and conduct that apply to these bus companies. Engaging in the bad crowd could leave you and them on the side of the road waiting for another bus, say, in the next day because of bad intentions. Choose your company wisely.

I don’t smoke. At the rest stops, I may stay far away from smokers as possible. The best remedy for this is to stay inside the bus or indoors since no smoking is allowed there. It is bad enough that smokers carry a distinctive odor on clothing and themselves  when sitting next or close to you. If necessary, wear a mask or other covering to minimize exposure to this odor. You can only pray that your fellow rider(s) next or close to you are non-smokers like yourselves, so then this will  make for a more pleasant ride.

New Orleans, LA

On my prior trip, I had to give money to fellow passengers. They were broke and hungry. People. Do not take these trips without food and/or money. You will get hungry along the way. Drivers stop at designated rest stops. I store enough food to last to the next stop that could be many hours in between meals. Use listening devices to drown out excessive noise from fellow passengers, including snoring. You need to rest in between meals and rest stops so that you don’t become excessively tired.

Houston, Texas

As for me, long road trips offer me relaxation and the open-mindedness to continue my quest to make money online, including finding new content on my blogging site and on my blogging overall. I can see the sites and sound of nature. I can do my work from my moving offices. I tend to do more being mobile than being stationary, even though both will have its benefits. If this is not your mode of travel, choose your need, and I will see you on my next quest.

Next stop San Antonio, Texas!
