Welcome to the weekend. It’s blogging time!

The change above is a last-ditch effort to free up my time and I believe will bring more balance and credence to my other online activities moving forward. Welcome to 2024!

I will share a quote then will continue to my topic of the day.

The reason birds can fly and we can’t is simply because they have perfect faith, for to have faith is to have wings.
J.M. Barrie
Scottish playwright and writer, known for ‘Peter Pan

Can’t help but notice that on television, there are lots of weight loss and physical fitness commercials. This is the time of the year when all those resolutions are on most people’s minds. Get fit. Lose weight. I believe this resolution ranks at the top of the list next to financial and finding love. I’m not sure if charity giving ranks anywhere on these lists, but I see a lot of charity seeking as well on these commercials. Animals and children’s donations are plentiful if ones resolution is to start donating more this year. Maybe it is tax return season and they want you to “wish” your money away. All these resolutions begin the same all the time to just lay by the way side six months afterward each year. Then repeat. So, why bother.

Strangely, a few weeks back, I had a conversation with a friend who wanted to achieve a certain goal in love this year. I was too numbed to ask why not start now. Why wait until the year starts? Why not finish the old year with a bang, then continue into the New Year. This is what I would call having the momentum moving forward. But I never said that. I’m still numb to this day with that conversation.

Call me crazy if you want, but the year’s resolution doesn’t make sense. To me, it’s just following in the tradition made by our ancestors. Not to say that our ancestors didn’t fare well in their resolutions and to pass it on to us to continue in it. But really. The reason this is called a tradition is that it has to be carried on each and every time, even though it rarely works nor never will it work out for us.

Statistics show that most will never follow through to the end with their New Years resolution. Say, for example, losing weight or eating healthy. Bam!. Here comes Thanksgiving. Here comes Christmas. Let’s eat and drink to our hearts’ content and put on those pounds to start all over with the resolution at years end. The more this continues, the more it will remain the same.

Here is my solution. Do not make these resolutions. Bust those traditions and make your plans to achieve your goals on your time and at any given time of the year. Life is not a game. No one can predict what will happen to them in time and that the coming year will be a bed of roses.

Momentum is everything. Not the timing. A good plan in the old year to carry into the New Year is much better than not having a plan at all. Not even to call your goal a resolution is better to achieve it without all that drama attached to it. Be careful how you choose your words. Our minds do not translate meanings for us.

Time wait for no man. So, my resolution is not to ever have a New Year’s resolution. My resolution is not to ever mention that word in my vocabulary when it comes to year’s end. I will continue to strive for much better each day, each week and each year. Wish you the same.

I hope you all have a wonderful year this year .

Cheers to a wonderful life!
