E-commerce giant Amazon on Monday said it will invest up to $4 billion in artificial intelligence firm Anthropic and take a minority ownership position in the company.
The move underscores Amazon’s aggressive AI push as it looks to keep pace with rivals such as Microsoft and Alphabet’s Google.
The two firms on Monday said that they are forming a strategic collaboration to advance generative AI, with the startup selecting Amazon Web Services as its primary cloud provider.

Amazon AMZN, will soon become the latest company to charge streaming subscribers extra to avoid commercials. Beginning early next year in the U.S., U.K., Germany and Canada, Prime Video accounts will include some ads — unless customers pay an extra $2.99 a month to avoid them. “We aim to have meaningfully fewer ads than linear TV and other streaming TV providers,” the company said in a blog post on Friday.

After launching an ad-supported tier last year, Netflix dropped its cheapest “Basic” streaming plan without ads in the U.S. and U.K. over the summer. Disney+ also rolled out an ad-supported tier last year, and prices for ad-free plans on Disney+ and Hulu will rise again in October.
The $499 Meta Quest 3 VR headset for immersive gaming, shopping, socializing and news consumption, due, due Oct. 10, puts the company on a collision course with long-time nemesis Apple Inc., which announced its $3,500 Apple Vision Pro goggles in June for delivery next year.
Meta Quest 3 may well be the company’s last chance to win the VR headset war before it begins.
No “sugar coating” it
The truth hurts. So, do you think that “agree to disagree” is a good thing. What if your best friend asks you for your advice, yet your advice is not good enough. What if all your advice, let’s say, were “sugar-coated.”
I do not know how these politicians manage to do so well in our society these days. Being able to fare well in a society of people of different religion, creed, race and culture, knowing that they will be loved by some and hated by others. Where is the middle ground drawn in this scenario. Can one go against their own belief just to please everyone. Will “sugar coating” the truth about their beliefs make it a lie or somewhat truthful.
Sugar-coat: “To make something more pleasant or believable than it actually is.”
I watched a movie some weeks ago, and a particular scene grabbed my attention. “A young man just graduated from college and decided to wear his graduation hat and gown while flying back home to be with his family. At the airport, while wearing his graduation attire and on an escalator heading down to the arrival area, he asked a man directly behind him on the escalator how he was looking. “You look like you are thousands of dollars in debt,” was this man’s reply.
Funny scence in the movie, no doubt. But this is true in real life that many graduates are highly in debt before even getting their first job. The writers joked about this. No one in real life warned us about this. The same as being a graduate does not guarantee you getting a good job or any jobs at all. Can you imagine being in debt to put your name in a hat with other applicants and hope for a call.
There are many other “masks of the truth” in our society today. For instance. Our veterans. While some are doing great, others are still living on the streets and begging for food. There can be an argument for that. Since not all people will become successful, no what they endeavor to do. But I still think the number is still higher than one can ever imagine for war veterans in our society who are living in the streets.
There is no way I could be a politician. It is hard not to speak my mind or to sugar-coat everything just to get votes or likes. Are there honest politicians. Absolutely.
Conspiracy theories may be real. The government may not tell us all we need to know.
Speak your minds. Tell it like it is. It is better to be honest about yourself than living in other’s shadows. Be outspoken.
