“Housekeeping”

Hello everyone. Welcome to another Friday and a new month of September. It’s blogging time again. If you’re reading this, you are alive and well. I wish you all good health and prosperity. First, I will share some news from various sources and then get on with my topic for today.

Young people are more likely to give up returns on investments to invest in ways that support causes they care about, new data shows.

  • The behavior can be connected to a need among young people to signal their values, one behavioral scientist said.
  • The data comes as the environmental, social and governance framework finds itself in hot water politically– Courtesy of Hakyung Kim-CNBC.

**Why do we say tall instead of small? How Starbucks created its own language for ordering coffee

“One tall iced pumpkin cream chai tea latte please,” is an order that will soon become a staple at Starbucks stores across the country….“Short is small but Tall is medium. Has anyone figured out the sizing at Starbucks?” one user posted. “I refuse to use Starbucks sizing. It’s just not for me,” read another post.

Along with the new drinks came the sizing we are so familiar with: “short,” “tall,” “venti,” “grande,” and “trenta.” Venti and trenta in Italian mean “twenty” and “thirty,” respectively, which refer to the number of ounces in each drink. Grande means “large” in Italian. Short and tall are other terms associated with the Italian coffee bar concept, used to describe the size of the drink. Tall was initially a medium-sized drink until Schultz decided the menu was too crowded. Short was eliminated and only available for hot drinks upon request. Now tall is known as the smallest size- Courtesy of CNN Business

Just weeks into the new school year, districts in multiple states are canceling in-person classes for several weeks due to respiratory viruses, including COVID-19, among students and staff. Rite Aid Corp. is preparing to file for bankruptcy in coming weeks to address lawsuits the drugstore chain is facing over its alleged role in the sale of opioids, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the plan.

Shares of the pharmacy retail chain operator closed down 51% at 71 cents.

The Chapter 11 filing would cover Rite Aid’s more than $3.3 billion debt load and pending legal allegations that it oversupplied prescription painkillers, the newspaper reported – Courtesy of Insurance Journal

“Housekeeping”

“Housekeeping” is the word I heard after the knock on my hotel room door. “No, thank you,” I replied. I rarely used this service while traveling in the United States and abroad. I’ve learned to keep my room neat and tidy and usually can pick up after myself from time to time. I will need this service mainly if they are issues with my room and / or I’m missing certain items. Usually, they are “do not disturb” signs that you can place on your door or signs that may deny such services. I remember patrons cleaning my room even though I didn’t request such services, and while I stepped out of my room briefly to run an errand… Housekeeping is the word I heard while attending a free concert in the park. Housekeeping are the rules of the park and its venues. This means that if you disobey the housekeeping rules, you will be kicked out of the park.

I can use housekeeping in my day to day living as well. For instance, managing my portfolio is a form of housekeeping. I have rules that I happen to apply and stick by. I have goals that I have to adhere to, whether it is daily, weekly, or monthly goals. These have to be met. No distractions are allowed. I must always stick to the plan to the end.

What about housekeeping for the inner self. Sure. We not only need to take care of our outer self. We need a cleansing of the mind from time to time. In addition to thinking positively, we need to fine-tune our minds as well. We need to use our right side of our brains for creative purposes. Think about buying a car without ever driving it. Just like that car, the right side of the brain will not work to its fullest potential if not being used. The same as the left side of the brain being worked and overworked by thinking and analyzing way too much. I think, then my creative side kicks in. Be careful being creative while your old self is not made new. It will be like “pouring new wine in an old bottle,” as the Holy Bible teaches.

Do some housekeeping for yourself and your online business(if applicable). Set rules and stick to them. Be disciplined. Below are some housekeeping rules that you can apply.

  • Set goals and stick with them
  • Stay disciplined
  • Change your eating habits (if necessary)
  • Renew your mind(acquire new habits)
  • Think positively
  • Take daily run/walk/hike
  • Change your associations
  • Find your purpose
  • Get more rest and relaxation
  • Have fun in what you do.
  • Pay yourself first

Don’t forget that “your body is your temple,” and you get to set the housekeeping rules.

Thanks for reading.
